‘Restore old scheme’

Demanding that the government cancel contributory pension scheme (CPS) and restore the old pension scheme, hundreds of employees held a rally and dharna at Sangareddy, Siddipet and Medak districts on Friday.

The protest programme was organised by the Joint Action Committee of teachers and employees. The employees have raised slogans against both the State and Central government.

“The new pension scheme was introduced by the Union Government on September 1, 2004. The State government had become a part of it and enforced it upon the employees. During the agitation for separate Telangana, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi promised to restore old pension scheme and cancel CPS,” said Mr. Ashok Kumar, chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), Sangareddy district.

“We demand that the government restore old pension scheme ,”he added.
