Ramadasu’s descendant ‘ignored’ by temple officials

March 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - Khammam:

Upset over not being formally invited to Sri Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsavam to be held in Bhadrachalam on Saturday, Kancharla Srinivasa Rao, a tenth generation descendant of the legendary saint composer Bhakta Ramadasu, brought the matter to the notice of Parliamentary Secretary and Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao met Mr. Venkat Rao in Kothagudem on Friday and apprised the latter about his grievances. Mr. Venkat Rao reportedly assured to take up the matter with the higher officials concerned.

Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Srinivasa Rao said a top officer of the Endowments Department had issued a letter last year directing the temple officials to extend a formal invitation to his family every year. However, the officials concerned did not bother to honour the order this year, he alleged.
