CITU and AITUC activists here on Thursday, took out a motorbike rally to drum up support for the nationwide general strike to be observed on September 2. The strike has been called to protest against the proposed amendments to the trade unions by the Centre.

CITU district president A. Ramesh Babu, on the occasion, said that the call for strike was given after giving ample time to the Centre to resolve the demands of the working class. The demands included payment of Rs.15,000 minimum wage per month to workers in the unorganised sector and so on, he added.

He appealed to all the sections of the people to extend their support to the strike.
