Railways allotted ₹ 350 crore this year for the Kothapally- Manoharabad railway line

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said completion of in of rail connectivity will improve the economic activity.

Addressing a gathering after laying foundation for the Kothapally and Manoharabad railway line civil work at Giripally in Gajwel mandal on Tuesday, Mr. Harish Rao said that the work was sanctioned when Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was the Union Minister, but did not progress as the previous governments did not respond positively.

“For any railway work the State Government has to bear one third of the cost in addition to acquiring the required land. The Railways allotted ₹ 350 crore this year for the Kothapally- Manoharabad railway line with the active intervention of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao,” said Mr. Harish Rao adding that completion of railway line would provide employment opportunities and allow industrial growth.

Informing that while 1,260 acres of land was required for the railway line, so far 250 acres was handed over to the Railways, the Minister pointed out that the amount allotted this year had to be spent to get funds for next year.

He said that six railway stations would come up in Gajwel constituency limits including Gajwel, Lakdaram, Kodakandla, Duddeda and Nacharam. The line would stretch up to Siddipet, Sircilla and Vemulavada. Tenders would be called for construction of 31 bridges by next week.

Lok Sabha member K. Prabhakar Reddy said that laying of railway line would benefit three districts.

Later in the day, a review meeting was held at Gajwel in which Transport Minister Mahender Reddy has also participated.
