Quid pro quo case: 13 accused appear before court

Senior IAS officer S.N. Mohanty and YSR Congress MP from Ongole Y.V. Subba Reddy were among other accused who appeared before the Principal Special Court for CBI Cases here on Friday, in the case pertaining to allotment of 70 acres prime land belonging to Andhra Pradesh Housing Board (APHB) here to Indu Projects Ltd.

It is one of the 11 aspects of the quid pro quo investments cases against YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and others. The court took cognizance of the charge-sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on November 22.

Mr. Jagan, his financial advisor V. Vijay Sai Reddy, industrialists I. Shyam Prasad Reddy, V.V. Krishna Prasad and representatives of eight private companies were also named as accused in the charge-sheet. Attendance of 13 of the 14 accused in the case, who appeared before the court, was marked. They submitted personal bonds for Rs. 25,000 each and two sureties.

However, Mr. Jagan did not appear before the court by filing a petition seeking exemption in view of the ongoing session of the AP Assembly.

Former Ministers P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Mopidevi Venkantaramana, J. Geetha Reddy and several other accused, including some IAS officers, also appeared before the court in the remaining 10 aspects of the quid pro quo investments case. The court posted the matter in all the 11 cases to January 29, 2015.
