Pump operators of protected drinking water supply scheme in Palair continued their strike for the second consecutive day on Tuesday demanding payment of wage arrears.
According to sources, the strike reportedly affected supply of drinking water to over 100 villages in Kusumanchi mandal.
A section of contract workers of comprehensive protected water supply (CPWS) schemes in several mandals in Khammam division abstained from duties on Tuesday, sources said. The talks between the striking workers and the officials concerned reportedly remained inconclusive till last reports came in. However, officials of the Rural Water Supply Department asserted that alternative arrangements were in place.
