Probe into poor condition of Karimnagar govt. hospital urged

July 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:11 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Former Karimnagar MP and TPCC vice-president Ponnam Prabhakar urged the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) to conduct an inquiry into the dilapidated condition of the Government Headquarters Hospital in Karimnagar and take stern action against the officials responsible for the same.

Following the incident of a roof collapsing in the hospital, which seriously injured an infant and its parents in the paediatric ward, the former MP wrote to the SHRC on Thursday, a copy of which was released to the media. He said that several wards in the hospital, such as paediatric and maternity wards, were in a dilapidated condition.

He said that the people were suffering from dengue and other illnesses, but the hospital was unable to provide proper treatment as the machine platelet separator was lying idle.

Mr. Prabhakar also complained that the hospital was unhygienic with poor sanitation and this was further adding to the woes of the patients. He urged the SHRC to conduct an inquiry and punish the guilty official.
