Power supply to be restored partly in Adilabad

Senior officials personally supervising the works

TS Transco engineers on Tuesday expressed hope of partly restoring power supply in Adilabad late in the night as they were making efforts to get the back supply in order. Engineers are trying to get power from Nirmal 132 KV sub station to Adilabad through an old 33 KV line which has been in disuse for the last decade or more.

Adilabad and Utnoor revenue divisions suffered a blackout since 9 p.m. on Monday after a couple of 132 KV electricity towers got completely damaged in the gale and hailstorm which lashed the outskirts of Nirmal town that night. The towers are located close to Yellareddypet, about 8 km from Nirmal town and engineers have started re-erecting those.

All the top officials including a Director or Northern Power Distribution Company Limited and Adilabad Superintending Engineer B. Ashok are personally supervising the restoration work. According to sources, the restoration work could take a minimum of 48 hours.

“We are planning to give power in staggered timings to urban and rural areas if the supply is restored on the 33 KV line. The spells will be of either one or two hours for the convenience of citizens,” a Transco official revealed.

Meanwhile, citizens faced considerable hardship in getting water. Many who could afford deployed portable generators fitted on jeep trolleys to avail power at least for the borewell pumpsets to work.
