Banners belonging to political parties have been banned in the premises of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta.
The directions to this effect, issued by the Temple Executive Officer N. Geetha, also apply to the vicinity of sub-temples and all religious places in Yadagirigutta.
Since the election process for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Graduate Constituency MLC polls is under way, the election code has also been in force. Despite that, politicians, particularly those of the ruling Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS), have gone on to erect the banners.
A life-size hoarding of Aler MLA Gongidi Sunitha Reddy and others TRS leaders was erected on the road leading to the ghat a couple of days ago, on the eve of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to the temple.
A number of other huge TRS hoardings were also erected at the entrance of the ghat road to hill shrine. Another life-size banner of the TRS was also put up at the entrance of the foot-way to the temple shrine.
Some Congress leaders have also erected banners greeting devotees visiting the temple on the eve annual Brahmotsavams. These include those of former Bhongir MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy.
Since a huge number of hoardings and flex banners of the TRS were put up on the way to temple, the local Opposition leaders have alleged that the temple administration was partial in implementing their prohibition.
