Police say no to Baahubali’s audio release at HITEX

Lakhs of movie buffs, particularly fans of actors Prabhas, Rana Daggupati, Ramya Krishna and Tamannaah Bhatia are bound to be disappointed.

The reason: the audio release of S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali , which is arguably one of India’s most expensive films, has been deferred. It was to have been unveiled on May 31.

Producer Shobu Yarlagadda of Arka Media made the announcement at a press conference, which was also attended by Rajamouli and Prabhas.

The producer and director said the police’s apprehensions of a stampede made them reconsider their decision to organise the movie’s audio release in the grand manner originally scheduled at the HITEX Grounds here.

Release on July 10

The duo, however, declared that on July 10, the first of the two-part series, slightly over 155 minutes long, would hit screens worldwide, in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi simultaneously. At least this should cheer people eager to see the film that took over two years to can.

When contacted, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said they had got a request for permission to conduct the show, saying that an estimated 30,000 fans were invited.

“They should have told [the police] about the number of people expected. The said grounds can comfortably accommodate only about 10,000 and the numbers indicated to us will surely lead to a problem that is best avoided. So we denied them permission,” he said.

Even ‘Burning Star’ Sampoornesh Babu has bit the khakhi bait. Tollywood’s fascination with cop roles is well known. In the recent past, almost every top hero has played the role of a police officer. While the stars played their role to the hilt, ‘Sampoo’ has a tough job on hand.

Whether it is sporting a serious expression or beating up baddies, or mouthing powerful dialogues, the actor’s fans expect him to deliver a humorous performance. The actor with unconventional looks is also rumoured to have imitated some leading Tollywood heroes in the movie. Made on a shoe-string budget, Singham 123 will be released on June 5.
