Police Dept. mulls proposal to reorganise circles

September 20, 2014 01:01 am | Updated 01:01 am IST - KHAMMAM:

The Police Department is mulling a proposal to reorganise the police circles in Bhadrachalam division to facilitate smooth functioning of police administration in the wake of merger of four mandals of the division with Andhra Pradesh.

The move has been necessitated following the transfer of four mandals – V.R. Puram, Kunavaram, Chintur and Bhadrachalam (barring the major gram panchayat of Bhadrachalam) – to the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Five police stations – Kunavaram, V.R. Puram, Chintur, Mothugudem and Bhadrachalam rural besides the Edugurallapalli police outpost are poised to become part of the East Godavari district police administration in a few days.

The Khammam district police officials concerned have reportedly sent proposals to the government envisaging reorganisation of the Venkatapurm and Charla circles, besides setting up of a new police station at Parnasala, the pilgrim centre in Dummugudem mandal of Bhadrachalam division.

It has also been proposed to designate the Circle Inspector of Police as the Station House Officer of Bhadrachalam town police station and set up an exclusive traffic wing in the temple town police station.

The State police wing of the residuary AP is all set to take over the reins of the five police stations and one police outpost in the Polavaram submergence-prone areas of the Agency in a couple of days.
