Etigaddakishtapur in Thogutta mandal will submerge with the construction of Mallannasagar reservoir

Tension prevailed for some time at this village on Saturday as police resorted to a mild cane charge to control an agitated mob that was upset with arrangements to acquire their lands for the balancing reservoir of an irrigation project.

Later in the evening, a mob set afire to the effigies of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao at this village and also Erravelli where Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao owns vast agricultural lands.

Etigaddakishtapur in Thogutta mandal will submerge by the construction of Mallannasagar reservoir as part of Kaleswaram project. Agitated over this, the villagers held a meeting at the panchayat office when they learnt that 13 women in the habitation fell unconscious due to blood pressure. It fuelled their tempers.

On coming to know about the situation in the village, Siddipet Revenue Divisional Officer Muthyam Reddy went there to talk to the residents. As the atmosphere was highly charged, some of the residents tried to attack him but local youth shielded him.

The police from Thogutta rushed there on a tip off and dispersed the mob by wielding lathis.

Meanwhile addressing the gathering, Mr. Muthyam Reddy said that the government is considering allotting plots to oustees as well and he said that the demand of villager to increase the compensation would be put fort before the government. At the same time, he made it clear that they have to vacate the village as it would be submerged.

CPI(M) padayatra

Demanding the government to pay compensation under Land Acquisition Act -2013, the district unit of the CPI(M) commenced a three-day padayatra from Erravally in Thogutta mandal to the revenue divisional headquarters on Saturday. this was formally flagged off by party senior leader Sarampally Malla Reddy. He has demanded that GO 123 and 214 must be cancelled and the land oustees should paid compensation four times to the market rate.
