Plea to postpone folk festival

The Adilabad district administration on Thursday requested the South Zone Cultural Centre (SZCC) to postpone the All India Folk and Tribal Festival in Adilabad proposed to be held during the second week of March. The former sought the postponement at least by one month in view of the exam season this month.

At a review meeting chaired by Collector M. Jagan Mohan, it was also decided to write to the SZCC to bear part of the funding needed for organising the mega cultural event at three venues in the district. The administration expressed its willingness to provide accommodation for the dozen folk and tribal troupes comprising of 15 members each.

The cultural fete will be held at three places in the district, Indira Priyadarshini stadium in Adilabad, NTR stadium in Nirmal and Pragati stadium in Srirampur.
