Plea for ‘bonalu’ as State festival

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson G. Niranjan has urged the Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao to declare ‘bonalu’ as State festival. In a letter to the Chief Minister on Wednesday, Mr. Niranjan said that ‘Bonalu’ festivities begin from June 29 at Golconda followed by Secunderabad Bonalu on July 13 and in old city on July 20. He urged the Chief Minister to instruct the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements for the even to be celebrated as state festival. –Special Correspondent
