Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna on Saturday underscored the need for people’s participation in making government schemes successful. He said many a government schemes in the past had failed as people had stayed away from them.
Performing ‘bhumi puja’ for the Rs. 70-lakh anicut works under Mission Kakatiya at Gimma village in Jainad mandal here, the Minister said programmes like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha also required people’s participation. He said the success of these programmes depended on how people received them.
Mr. Ramanna assured that under Mission Bhagiratha, about 62,000 habitations in the State would be supplied drinking water by the end of July.
As the prediction of monsoon was encouraging, he said 100 per cent planting of the targeted 40 crore saplings would also be done in the current year.
The Minister also performed ‘bhumi puja’ for desiltation works at Komaticheruvu at Thantoli village at a cost of Rs. 23 lakh and for Kummarikunta at Ankoli village at a cost of Rs. 21 lakh.
Irrigation Executive Engineer Sushil Deshpande and others also attended.
