There would be greater public partnership in protecting law and order, and more emphasis on friendly policing, said Superintendent of Police, Medak, B. Sumathi.

She told reporters after assuming charge here on Friday that law and order, controlling crime and a strict vigil on inter-State borders would be of prime importance.

Steps would be taken to prevent road accidents and crime against women.

Medak would assume importance as it was the native district of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The district was peaceful by and large, and the public co-operative, she said.

Asked about the weekly-off proposed for police personnel, the SP said they needed to be redeployed while their presence was needed in towns like Ramachandrapuram and Patancheru.
