PDSU activists stage protest

January 07, 2015 12:42 am | Updated 12:42 am IST - KHAMMAM:

The activists owing allegiance to the Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) in Khammam, laid siege to the camp office of the Minister for Roads & Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday to press for immediate release of scholarship and fee reimbursement arrears.

The Minister was not present at the camp office when the student activists staged the demonstration, sources added.

The protesters squatted in front of the camp office and displayed banners demanding release of specific guidelines pertaining to the Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST).

They raised slogans denouncing the alleged delay in release of pending scholarships and fee reimbursement arrears.

Their other demands include enhancement of monthly mess charges for all eligible students keeping in view the spiralling prices of essential commodities.

Bid foiled

Nalgonda Staff Reporter adds: Activists of PDSU have made a vain attempt to lay siege to Education Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy’s residence at Suryapet on Tuesday.

The police foiled their attempt by obstructing them from entering the house.

The police had deployed picket at the Minister’s house following the recent protests.
