Actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan on Sunday said his party would contest the 2019 elections.
Speaking to a television channel after release of his film Sardar Gabbar Singh , he said that without losing his independence, he would enter full-fledged politics in the 2019 elections.
Replying to a query, he said he was not naïve and had a fairly good idea about the rough terrain of politics.
“I have embarked on this journey and I am prepared to walk the rough terrain. I know politics is not a very clean arena, but I have taken this decision after a thorough home work,” he said.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan said he believed in the power of dialogue and debate, which could help solve even the most crucial issues.
When his attention was drawn to the fact that despite his repeated pleas for ‘special status,’ it continued to elude Andhra Pradesh, the actor said it was difficult to achieve things when one was alone.
“I still have not lost all hope. When I am convinced that nothing is happening on this front, I will think of my next course of action.”
Responding to the farmers’ resistance to land pooling by the government, he said land was a very precious and limited source.
“Governments should exercise great caution while dealing with land.”
I have embarked on this journey and I am prepared to walk the rough terrain.
