Parts of Adilabad district got blacked out since 9 p.m. on Monday owing to damages to a couple of 132 KV electricity towers in Neredigonda mandal. According to TSTransco officials, restoration of power supply could take up to five days as the towers need to be re-erected.

While the tower in the forest near Yellareddypet near Lingatla was completely damaged, another in the vicinity was partly damaged. The towers were damaged due to gale which swept the area and heavy rainfall in the night.

The 132 KV line from Nirmal to the sub station near CCI in Adilabad is the main distributing line for all sub stations in Adilabad and Utnoor Revenue divisions. TSTransco officials are trying to repair an old 33 KV line for supply of power at least temporarily but the supply will be restricted to Adilabad town only. Officials are exploring other possibilities.
