OU prof. becomes KU Vice-Chancellor

Professor of physics, Osmania University, Prof. R. Sayanna, has assumed charge as the Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University here on Monday.

Mr. Sayanna hails from Koratpally, Dichapally mandal of Nizamabad mandal. He completed M.Sc in 1980 and Ph.D in Physics in 1988. He began his career as a junior lecturer in 1981 and became a degree college lecturer in 1983. He joined Osmania University as assistant professor in 1989, and became professor of Physics in 1999.

He has to his credit 24 years of teaching experience and 11 research papers. He has guided three Ph.D scholars so far, and has attended seven conferences. Prof. Sayanna has rich administrative experience, having served as controller of examinations, hostel warden, and admission committee and sports committee member in the past.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sayanna said he would strive to bring glory to Kakatiya University, one of the oldest varsities in the region. He thanked Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for reposing faith in him and appointing as Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious university in Telangana.
