Organs of 22-year-old donated

A 22-year-old man, Kotte Prashant of Madaram village of Tandur mandal of Adilabad, who was declared brain dead after he met with a road accident on August 17, turned a life-saver for four persons with his organs donated on Friday.

According to Maxcure hospital managing director and cardiologist Sai Ravishankar, Prashant, who was married in March this year, met with an accident while driving his motorcycle and was shifted to the Karimnagar hospital for treatment. The doctors treating him informed their family members that he was brain dead and educated them on organ donation.

Wife of the man, Akhya (20), and other family members came forward to donate the organs. Immediately, the hospital intimated the matter to Mohan Foundation of Hyderabad and other doctors from Apollo Reach who harvested the organs viz heart, liver, kidneys and eyes.
