May 26, 2015 05:20 pm | Updated 05:20 pm IST - ADILABAD:

One person died of sunstroke in Adilabad District on Tuesday as the maximum day temperature recorded was above 44 degrees Celsius. There was some respite to residents of Mancherial town and its surroundings and some parts in the eastern side of the district as stray showers helped temperature drop considerably in the afternoon.

Matadi Narsaiah, a 45-year-old auto driver from Indiranagar in town fell ill due to dehydration on the night of Monday. He died while being taken to hospital in the small hours of Tuesday.

A stray cloud brought rainfall on the outskirts of Mancherial town which caued temperature to plummet from a high of 44 degrees C to 26 degrees C at about 1.30 p.m. The rain was brief and scattered but it helped in easing severity in the atmosphere quite a bit.
