On maiden visit to Telangana, Modi accorded warm welcome

On his maiden visit to Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded warm welcome by Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Miniser K.Chandrasekhar Rao and others at the Begumpet Airport on Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Modi accompanied by Union Ministers - Anant Kumar and Suresh Prabhu - arrived by special Indian Air Force plane at 2.10 pm. Mr. Narasimhan first greeted him followed by Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao presenting a bouquet and shawl. Several TRS Ministers and BJP leaders including Union Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu were present.

The Prime Minister and other dignitaries left for Komatibanda in Gajwel constituency of Medak district in two IAF helicopters at 2.37 pm.

The Prime Minister during his short visit will inaugurate phase-I of Mission Bhagiratha drinking water project for every household at Komatibanda in Chief Minister's Gajwel constituency.

In Komatibanda he will also lay the foundation for Manoharabad-Kothapalli new railway line connecting Hyderabad and Karimnagar besides dedicating the 2x600 MW Singareni Thermal Power Project at Jaipur in Adilabad. He is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for Telangana Super Thermal Power Project State - I (Ramagundam), Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Scienes, Warangal and revival of Ramagundam Fertilizer plant.

BJP workers meeting

On his return to Hyderabad, Mr. Modi will drive down to Lal Bahadur Stadium to address BJP workers meeting.

Elaborate arrangements are in place in Komatibanda for the prestigious event as the TRS Government mobilised a large number of people to attend the programme. Hundreds of buses were pressed into service to transport people to the venue of the meeting.

Meanwhile, in response to Chalo Gajwel call given by the Telangana unit of Congress party, several Congress leaders tried to proceed to Gajwel but were arrested. Among the arrested are Medak Congress unit president V.Sunitha Laxma Reddy, former MP Suresh Shetkar, former MLAs - P.Sashidhar Reddy, T.Jayaprakash Reddy, all in Medak district. In Nizamabad district, former Irrigation Minister P.Sudarshan Reddy was detained at his house and denied permission to proceed to Gajwel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated Telangana Government's ambitious Mission Bhagiratha drinking water project in Komatibanda village of Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao's Gajwel constituency in Medak district.

The Prime Minister on arrival at Komatibanda at 3.05 p.m. proceeded to the specially erected enclosure where he unveiled the plaque of Mission Bhagiratha and later pressed the button in a symbolic gesture to release water on pylon. Later, he opened the tap to fill a pitched to release project water to Gajwel constituency.

Accompanied by the Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao and Union Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu, the Prime Minister went round a photo exhibition highlighting the Mission Bhagiratha project.

Later, he drove down to the venue of the public meeting where he unveiled the plaques for inauguration of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, 4000MW NTPC power plant at Ramagundam and revival of Fertilizer plant.
