Thousands thronged the NTR beach at Vakalapudi on Sunday, the second day of the three-day ‘Kakinada Beach Festival.’ People began reaching the beach from the morning hours to witness daylong entertainment programmes.

In addition to the main venue, two daises were exclusively allotted for school and college students to perform. “I am a foodie, and I don’t know what to eat here. The famous bamboo chicken from Rampachodavaram is on one side and the equally popular ‘Pakam Garelu’ from Perumallapuram is inviting me from the other,” said Adabala Ganesh from Sarpavaram, who came along with his friends. Foreigners, too, turned up for the festival and remained the cynosure of all eyes. “I am seeing Haridasulu [folk artiste] after a long time. In my childhood, ‘Haridasulu’ was a regular visitor to our house in the morning hours in December and January,” said P. Ratnamala, a schoolteacher from Hyderabad.

People waited in queues to have darshan at the makeshift Sri Rama Satyanarayana Swamy temple at Annavaram. “Nursery stalls are my favourite here. We bought a lot of saplings,” said M.V. Sudha Rani of Achampeta. Stall owners were the elated ones.
