Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao got down to serious business on day one in office in Secretariat by spending exactly 140 minutes.
That Mr. Rao was focussed on what he plans to do for the 29th State of the Indian Union was evident by the speeches he made at the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds first and then at a meeting of the Telangana Secretariat Employees here.
At both places, his speech revolved around the welfare and development with focus on pro-poor programmes. In Secretariat, he sought to exhort the employees to work with all commitment to develop the new State. “I am all for employee friendly administration,” he said seeking their support to work for the people.
The TRS chief entered the beautifully decorated Telangana Secretariat from the Mint Compound entrance in bullet proof convoy of six Toyota Prado SUVs. His motorcade comprised police personnel driving Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles ahead of his vehicle.
On arrival, Mr. Rao stepped on to the brand new red carpet laid for him and reached Nalla Pochamma Temple to offer prayers and later reached specially erected dais in front of ‘C’ Block housing his chambers. He made a brief speech at the meeting and was in the sixth floor chambers to take charge at the stroke of 12.57 pm.
The first file he signed was to approve the Telangana Logo. After briefing from the CMO officials, he proceeded to attend the informal Cabinet meeting in the third floor. The meeting lasted less than 30 minutes, where he dropped broad hints about the portfolios to his colleagues and the tentative dates for the maiden meeting of the Telangana Assembly.
A senior CMO official told The Hindu that Mr. Rao signed the first file and then held a meeting with a high profile delegation of Confederation of India Industry (CII) in his chambers. “He sought detailed information about the flagship programmes of the TRS Government. He is determined to focus on the poll manifesto,” sources said.
At about 2.25 pm he left Secretariat for his residence having started his day early by first attending the swearing in ceremony of Telangana Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan, paying tributes to martyrs’ at Gun Park and his own oath taking a little later.
