OCs seek reservations, plan ‘garjana’

Public meeting on April 23, to seek social justice

Telangana Brahmana Seva Samithi is planning to organize a ‘OC garjana’ on April 23 urging the State government to give 19 % reservation in education and employment to ‘Other Castes’ in the State.

Samithi president Gangu Upendra Sharma, G.V.S. Srinivassa Charya, Valluru Pavan Kumar, OC JAC leaders G. Jaipal Reddy and P. Ganapathi Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for creating Brahmin Corporation and allocating ₹100 crore fund to it. However, many belonging to OCs needed more, they added.

Leaders belonging to Velama, Reddy, Brahmana, Kamma, Vysya, Marwadi and Kshatriya communities are expected to attend the proposed public meeting at KDC Grounds here on April 23 and put forward their demands. The Samithi leaders said they were demanding 19 % reservation to all OC poor candidates. in education and employment. They want all the schemes being extended to the BC students, such as financial assistance of ₹20 lakh to those pursuing education in foreign countries. They want the state government to provide interest free loan of ₹50,000 to elderly Vysyas to start their own business.

The Samithi leaders urged the Chief Minister to consider providing reservation to OCs to contest elections to local bodies.

“We are requesting the State government to consider economic conditions of the castes and suitably help the communities. We want social justice,” Mr. Upendra Sharma said.

Poster released

The Samithi leaders released a poster for the forthcoming public meeting and urged people of all communities to attend the same in large numbers.

Seva Samithi leaders Arutla Srinivasa Charyulu, Namilikonda Panchal Roy, Vinnakota Raj Kumar, S. Srikanth Sharma, Ch. Santosh Kumar, Vyshnava Sangham leaders N. Seshacharyulu, Dingari Laxminarasimha Charyulu and others were present.
