A number of Non-Resident Indians and industrialists have come forward to offer donations towards the development of Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple in Yadagirigutta.

According to sources, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao told the temple administration and district officials that donors wanted the Yadagirigutta temple to be developed on a par with Sri Venkateswara Rao Swamy temple in Tirumala. Mr. Rao, however, did not disclose to the officials in what form the donations would be accepted.

It is learnt that the Chief Minister reportedly informed the officials that along with Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, he would visit the temple to explain the proposed design and seek his suggestions.

Mr. Rao arrived at the temple for the second time in the last three days to present silk vastrams and muthyala talambaralu to the temple administration on Friday. He interacted with local public representatives and asked them to expedite the process of land acquisition.

It is learnt that the Chief Minister asked the Revenue officials to acquire a private hillock located close to the hill shrine.

Since the land owner had already taken up some development works on the hillock, the Chief Minister reportedly asked the officials to compensate the landlord by acquiring the land. Sources said the Chief Minister told them that private structures close to the hill shrine could be a hurdle in the temple’s development.

The temple owns 166 acres down the hill, and the Revenue Department has identified 1,907 acres to be acquired, out of which 900 acres belong to the government.

As the private hillock in Yadagiripalli village abutting Gundlapalli comes under this 1,000 acres of identified private land, the Chief Minister asked the officials to acquire the hill to bring the total land under Yadagirigutta Urban Development Authority.

It is learnt that district officials also have issued directions to land owners to stop construction activities on the land with immediate effect.

Endowments Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy, Energy Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy, Government Whip Gongidi Sunitha, Joint Collector N. Satyanarayana and others were present.
