Some 15 Non-Resident Indians from Chandupatla and other neighbouring villages have decided to adopt the village to bring about all-round development.

The village shot to fame after some locals, with the support of historians, had identified an inscription on the death of a Kakatiya ruler, Rudramadevi, a few years ago.

An NRI from the village, Sathish Medavarapu said they had decided to restore several historical structures in the temple, including the inscription. The NRIs also have decided to restore the Vinayaka idol, where Rudramadevi is believed to have performed puja before a war. Besides, Mr. Sathish said that they would also develop Ramalayam, Narasimha Swamy, Hanuman and Siva Temples in the village.

Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali, a youth organisation that has been actively working in the village, conducted a Swachh Bharat campaign here on Sunday. Several youth, including the kin of these NRIs, took part in the campaign.

Another NRI from the village, Paduri Amarendar Reddy, said they had also been planning to construct toilets in the village besides taking up a mass plantation programme to improve greenery. “We are ready to work in co-ordination with the villagers and Yuvajana mandali to bring about all-round development, he added. Yuvjana Mandali president Tanguturi Saidulu said that they would install an idol of Rudramadevi and a Kakatiya Kalatoranam at the entrance of the village.
