The very mention of the name Ramesh Prasad makes people think of L.V. Prasad and his contribution to the film industry since the ‘pre-talkie’ days. Then people think of the former as an exhibitor and his pro-active nature in bringing the latest in audio-video technology for enhanced viewing experience.
A couple of years ago, Mr. Ramesh Prasad began his foray into film production under the banner ‘Prasad Productions’ and made Rishi with director Raj Madiraj, heroine Supriya Sailaja and hero Arvind Krishna. However, the film failed to live up to expectations and much water has flown under the bridge.
A day ago, he launched work on his second production again with Raj Madiraj wielding the megaphone, with the title Andhra Pori (‘Pori’ means girl in typical Telangana slang). This teenage love story is about a boy from Telangana and a girl from Andhra Pradesh. Interestingly, this is the Telugu re-make of Time-pass , a Marathi film that became a runaway success and grossed over Rs. 40 crore earlier this year.
While Ulka Gupta (popular as a kid on Zee Television as Jhansi Lakshmi) is the heroine, the hero’s role is essayed by Aakash Puri, son of director Puri Jagannadh. The music will be refreshingly-young, is what the young music director ‘Dr. J’ (that’s what Josyabhatla Rajasekhara Sarma calls himself now) promises. And in tune with what Mr. Ramesh firmly believes, there will be no ‘double-meaning’ dialogues, item numbers or gory fights!
