Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has alleged that the Opposition has been preventing the construction of Mallannasagar reservoir without having proper knowledge about it.

Participating in various development programmes held at Nagalgidda of Manoor mandal in Narayankhed constituency on Wednesday, Mr. Harish Rao said the Mallannasagar project was proposed to provide irrigation facilities to areas like Narayankhed by storing water but the Opposition members have been instigating the locals. “The Opposition is questioning us whether we took public opinion before going ahead with the project. But, have people opposed the construction of reservoir?

They all are seeking water to irrigate their farms,” he said while addressing a programme.

He said the government was committed to ensure that farmers got water for their farms and Mallannasagar would be constructed to benefit large number of farmers. He urged the land oustees to cooperate with the government in constructing the reservoir.

KCR’s visit

The Minister said that a visit by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to the constituency would be arranged shortly so that more funds would be allotted for this backward area.

Stating that Nagalgidda would become mandal headquarters and Narayankhed divisional headquarters, he said that as many as four residential schools were sanctioned for Narayanakhed while eight were sanctioned to the district.

After inaugurating 33/11 substation at Tornala, Mr. Harish Rao suggested the local legislator M. Bhupal Reddy and others to spare some time and address the problems being faced by the public.

He said that this was the third substation in Narayankhed area after formation of the government.
