No new uniform for these students on I-Day

August 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:11 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Students of various government schools would be attending the 70th Independence Day celebrations in their old and torn uniform on Monday as the government has failed to supply new uniform to students to date.

The academic year had started two months ago, but students, including those of the government high school, Zilla Parishad, KGBV, Model schools and social welfare hostels, have still not received uniform from the government.

Usually, the students feel elated to attend to the Independence Day celebrations in new uniform as it’s a national festival. But, now they would attend the I-Day celebrations in old uniform or in civil dress, complained a teacher. The government should chalk out advance plans for distribution of uniform well in advance, he said. Some teachers found fault with the government for distribution of school uniform to students from classes first to eighth only.

Students of ninth and tenth classes were not provided uniform. Sources in the Education Department said that the government had placed orders with Sircilla weavers and they had no idea when the stocks would arrive.
