NIMS Bibinagar set to roll out outpatient facilities soon

After much delay, the Bibinagar facility of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) is ready to begin outpatient services from its premises.

Arrangements to roll out OP facilities are complete and services are likely to be thrown open to the public after the ongoing Assembly session when Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Deputy CM T. Rajaiah are free from official commitments.

Occasional super-speciality

To begin with, daily outpatient facilities in general medicine and surgery, along with laboratory services, will be available for patients. Efforts are on to introduce a once-a-week availability of super-speciality doctors at the centre.

The in-patient facility, operation theatres and even emergency services are yet to be planned.

Even to operate outpatient services, NIMS Bibinagar needs additional health care workers of all levels.

“We will depute doctors and other medical staff from NIMS Hyderabad to Bibinagar. As instructed by the government, we want to start the outpatient services at the earliest,” said NIMS Director L. Narendranath.

Health officials said doctors and other health staff under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) will also be deputed to NIMS Bibinagar.

While outpatient services will be operational, it would take more time for officials to develop NIMS Bibinagar into a super-speciality hospital and later into a medical college.
