A new 33-KV electricity sub-station has been constructed in a mission mode at Erragadda Thanda in Kusumanchi mandal to facilitate uninterrupted power supply to the proposed Bhakta Ramadasu lift irrigation scheme, likely to be commissioned by the year-end.

Works on laying dedicated power lines for the ambitious lift irrigation scheme have reached the final stage, sources said.

The proposed lift irrigation scheme envisages sourcing of water from the Palair balancing reservoir in Kusumanchi mandal to irrigate 55,958 acres in five mandals including the drought-prone Tirumalayapalem mandal under Palair constituency.

Barring the works on forebay structure and intake well, civil works on other important components of the project, including pipeline laying, works were expected to be completed by the month-end, sources said.

Meanwhile, executing agencies drew up plans to conduct the trial run of the lift irrigation scheme in the second week of December to pave the way for inauguration of the project by December-end.
