NDA govt accused of failing to check price rise

The Telangana Beedi and Cigar Workers Union general secretary S. Rama has said that the BJP led NDA Government failed to control rise in prices of food grains, pulses and all essential commodities resulting in unbearable hardship to the poor and the middle classes.

Vegetable prices were skyrocketing and the Government was reluctant to reduce the price of petrol and diesel in the country though the crude oil prices have come down world over, she said while addressing the meeting of all the trade unions at Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium, here on Saturday. Calling upon beedi and other workers to make a big success the general strike to be observed across the nation against the anti-labour policies of the Centre on September 2, she said that the Government increased the rate of indirect taxes in the Union Budget.Leaders of beedi workers’s unions affiliated to CITU, IFTU, TRSKV, TNTUC and AITUC also spoke.
