The Narsingapur in the mandal emerged as the first ever digital village in the district and the second one in the State. One person from every household in the village became computer literate with the special efforts of Computer Science Department of the Telangana University.
The project was undertaken as part of the National Digital Literacy Mission. The Ministry of Information Technology, Government of Telangana, Telangana IT Association, and Telangana University strove to make the village a total digital literacy village. The villagers successfully completed 20-hour training programme on computers. Basar in Adilabad district, where the IIIT is located, is the first village in the State to have achieved total digital literacy. Teachers and students of the premier institute made efforts to make the temple village as the first digital village. Registrar Prof. Limbadri praised the efforts of all those who contributed to the success of the mission. He also complimented sarpanch Suvarna for encouraging villagers to attend the programme.
Those who became digital students earlier played a pivotal role in providing training to the rest. Arthi, Head, Department of Computer Science, students - Atheek, Nandini, Bramarambika, Neelima, and TUIA representatives - Sandeep and Rana were present.
