AP Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday got into fire fighting mode and is stated to have brought about peace between the two warring Telangana leaders -- Erabelli Dayakar Rao and A. Revanth Reddy.
Mr. Naidu met the two leaders separately and is stated to have counselled them against exchanging harsh words. Mr. Rao told Mr. Naidu that he had no problem if Mr. Revanth criticised political parties but he should avoid targeting individuals and the community to which they belonged. It was sending a wrong message to this community. He also explained to Mr. Naidu the reasons for meeting Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao that fuelled speculation that he might quit the TDP.
On his part, Mr. Revanth Reddy reportedly clarified to Mr. Naidu that he was not targeting any community but only highlighting the misdeeds of the government and how out-of-turn favours being shown to some individuals.
He was playing the role assigned to him as legislator belonging to the Opposition and recalled that he had not spared the mining baron, Gali Janardhan Reddy, in the past.
The TDP president told them and other MLAs who joined the meeting later, to work for strengthening the party in Telangana.
