N. Sridhar the new CMD of SCCL

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday appointed N. Sridhar as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL). He will replace the incumbent Sutirtha Bhattacharya, who has already been chosen to head the Coal India Ltd.

Mr. Sridhar, a 1997 batch IAS officer, is presently working as District Collector of Ranga Reddy district. The government has also issued orders relieving Mr. Bhattacharya from the SCCL post on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister called Mr. Sridhar to his office and informed him about the decision to appoint him as the CMD of the Singareni Collieries. He asked Mr. Sridhar to develop SCCL spread over four districts as a strong organisation.

“I am happy to appoint a son of the soil as the Chairman of Singareni Collieries,” the Chief Minister said. Mr. Sridhar thanked the Chief Minister for keeping faith in him to take up the new responsibility. He was also complimented by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and Principal Secretary (CMO) S. Narsing Rao on his elevation.

Mr. Sridhar has the experience of working as District Collector of Warangal, Krishna and Anantapur districts, Special Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, Director of Ports at Kakindada, Project Officer of ITDA at Utnoor, Joint Collector of Nellore and Sub-Collector at Rajahmundry.

Orders were issued earlier in the day transferring Mr. Sridhar and placing his services at the disposal of the Energy Department for appointment as the CMD of SCCL. Separate orders were issued relieving Mr. Bhattacharya of his duties with the SCCL and placing his services at the disposal of the Government of India for appointment as CMD of Coal India Ltd.
