District Collector P. Satyanarayana Reddy vowed to work in co-ordination with Sai Oral Health Foundation to bring in overall development in M. Yadavally village which is famous for having high content of fluoride in groundwater.

Addressing a meeting organised by the Foundation at M.Yadavally here on Tuesday, the Collector said that they have found that only 70 households in the village were having no Individual Household Latrines which they sanctioned immediately. The construction of 30 toilets has been completed and the remaining would be completed within 15 days, Mr. Reddy said and added that they would declare M.Yadavally as the first village to have 100 per cent toilets in district.

As the Foundation has identified over 130 illiterates in the village, Mr. Reddy wanted the Adult Education Department officials to work in tandem with Foundation head and Padmashree awardee, A.S. Narayana.

Apart from these initiatives, the Collector also promised support the foundation in its initiative to improve basic amenities and convert M.Yadavalli into a model village shortly.

Dr. Narayana said he had adopted the village 20 years ago after seeing many people suffer from fluorosis.

Since then, he said that they have improved the avenue plantation, ground water harvesting and other initiatives which helped in the decline of fluoride content in groundwater considerably.

In association with Sri Ramananda Teertha Rural Institute, Dr. Narayana said they have also provided training in computer and tailoring to women and others.

Ramananda Teertha Institute, Director, N.Kishore Reddy, Sarpanch, Bokka Bhupal Reddy and others were present.
