The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Telangana State Municipal Workers’ Union has threatened a State-wide, indefinite stir from April 25 when outsourced, part-time and contract staff from various departments, including sanitation, will halt work in all the Urban Local Bodies.

The strike will be launched to demand that the Government issue orders for increasing the pay scale of the municipal workers as per the latest pay revision committee recommendations as was being made applicable to other employees, and regularisation of services.

The JAC opposed instructions given to municipal councils to pass resolutions for taking up any pay hikes.

It held a protest demonstration at the office of the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) in Masab Tank to highlight the issue.

As talks held with the officials did not succeed, it has resolved to go ahead with an agitation programme like sporting black badges till the indefinite strike begins. Saibaba and Kamar Ali of CITU, Yesuratnam, also spoke at the meeting.
