The Municipal Administration & Urban Development Department has bagged 22 Skoch awards under various categories for various reforms, innovations and citizen-centric policies across the country this year. The awards are given in governance and other fields by Skoch group, a think tank dealing with socio-economic issues.
The Commissioner and Director for Municipal Administration (CDMA) has been awarded for two categories, first for transforming about three lakh plus street lights to LED which resulted in a saving of ₹37.13 crore across the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Telangana.
Second one was for effective implementation of paperless governance, informed the Director T.K. Sreedevi.
Awards to ULBs
Sircilla municipality, part of the constituency represented by MA & UD Minister K.T. Rama Rao, bagged five awards for having shown the improved performance through citizen service centre and mobile App, LED streetlights, innovations in solid waste management.
Two-year-old Boduppal Municipality got two awards for e-governance & solid waste management, Karimangar Municipal Corporation got three for open air gyms, citizen facilitation centre, LED lights. Shadnagar Municipality got two awards for property tax collection and source segregation of waste.
Siddipet municipality bagged six for setting up city livelihood centre, sustainable AMRUT City, e-Governance, Swachh Bharat Mission, etc.
