July 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - KHAMMAM:

Activists of the Gosamrakshana Samithi took out a motorbike rally here on Monday seeking strict implementation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and the Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977.

BJP MLA from Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, T Raja Singh, BJP district president K. Sridhar Reddy, Gosamrakshana Samithi district convener N. Rama Rao and others took part in the rally, according to a press release.

Later, a delegation of the samithi submitted a memorandum to the officials concerned at the Collectorate urging the latter to initiate concrete steps to prevent cruelty to animals as per the provisions of the laws.

In the memorandum, the Gosamrakshana Samithi representatives alleged that those engaged in the illegal sale and transportation of cattle were attacking the volunteers of their samithi for exposing the ‘illegal cattle trade’.
