Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived here on Tuesday on a day’s visit was given a rousing reception as soon as he landed at the Begumpet airport this afternoon.

The Prime Minister is in the city to formally flag off the first train of the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail project and launch the Global Entrepreneurship Summit - 2017 being organised for the first time in south Asia. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudanachary, Legislative Council chairman K. Swamy Goud, senior BJP leaders including BJP State president K. Laxman and others welcomed Mr. Modi as he landed in a special Indian Air Force flight at 1.20 pm.

Children from different schools wearing Modi masks were the special attraction at the reception ceremony. Mr. Modi is scheduled to leave for Miyapur in an IAF helicopter to flag off the metro rail and will subsequently proceed to the HICC to inaugurate the GES-2017 around 4 pm.
