Mission Kakatiya: Medak gets Rs. 250 cr.

Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao said that the State government has allotted Rs. 250 crore for restoration of 1,869 tanks in Medak district.

He said that ‘Mission Kakatiya’ would change the face of farmers and villages in the years to come.

Participating in restoration of tanks under Mission Kakatiya programme at Peddacheruvu at NK Pally in Sadashivapet mandal, Gandikuntacheruvu at Gollapally village in Kondapr mandal and Deveunicheruvu at Kandi village in Sangareddy mandal on Monday, Mr. Harish Rao said that all the tanks would be developed with the public participation.

“Farmers can reduce their input cost in the fields by using of silt removed from tanks. This will increase the production by 30 per cent and reduce the cost of using fertilizer,” he said, adding that this was an unique programme taken up only in Telangana across the nation to benefit farmers and improve groundwater levels.

Referring to power situation, Mr. Harish Rao said that the government was committed to extend nine-hour power supply during daytime for farmers from next summer.Stating that all steps were put in place to meet the drinking water problem during summer, the Minister said that Rs. 26.2 crore was released for this purpose.

Mr. Harish Rao inaugurated a school building and laid foundation stone for Saibaba temple at Ismailkhanpet.
