March 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:02 am IST - CHITTOOR:

The Chittoor police on Sunday morning arrested two youths on charges of raping a 15-year-old Dalit girl at Diguvamodulapalle village of Tavanampalle mandal, 25 km from here.

Police said Pradeep and Rajesh (both 22), from the same village, forcibly took the girl, who was sleeping in her hut, to a mango garden in the wee hours of Saturday and raped her. After nearly two days of confinement, the girl escaped while the duo was away.

After the girl and her parents lodged a complaint with the Tavanampalle police on Sunday morning, a special team of Tavanampalle and Irala police swung into action and nabbed the duo while they were about to flee the village.

Police later took the girl to the Government General Hospital in Chittoor for medical examination. The duo have been booked under various sections of the IPC.
