Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar has urged the Union Government to include the historic and ancient Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district in the Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD scheme for the promotion of the spiritual tourism in Telangana.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha under supplementary question on Monday, the MP said that the Vemulawada temple shrine which is also called as Dakshin Kashi, is visited by several thousands of devotees. Similarly, the Dharmapuri shrine along the shores of river Godavari also has huge pilgrim patronage, he said and urged the Government to include them in the schemes and sanction funds for development. Responding to the query, Minister for Tourism Mahesh Sharma said that the Government would definitely consider the request made by the MP for including the development of shrines under Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD schemes.
