The Telangana government has written to the South Central Railway (SCR) to allow free movement of rakes carrying petroleum products to Warangal, Ramagundam and Cherlapalli points. Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender told the oil companies to organise two shifts for loading of petroleum products into trucks at Ramagundam IOC depot immediately.

The Minister’s instructions came in a review meeting attended by representatives of the IOC, BPC and HPCL companies to ensure that there was no shortage of fuel in Telangana. The Minister wanted the adjustment of the products among the oil companies to be done from Warangal, Suryapet and Ramagundam to ensure that the State’s requirements are met immediately. It would also help reduce transportation of fuel on long-distance routes.

The government would also help the oil companies to set up more oil depots keeping the next five decades in view. The Oil companies representatives briefed the Minister about the proposals for establishment of a new IOC depot near Hyderabad by connecting to Paradeep Port by underground pipeline, expansion and upgradation of existing depots like Cherlapalli, Warangal etc.
