The candidates participating in the Air Force recruitment rally had to face several problems in the district headquarters on Thursday.
At one point of time, the police were forced to resort to mild lathi-charge to control the agitating candidates.
Responding to the announcement made by the Indian Air Force, over 6,000 aspirants reached Sangareddy since Wednesday night. They slept in the bus stands and police auditorium. The process of recruitment commenced in the morning.
The candidates agitated when the Air Force officers did not allow them inside stating that ‘long memo’ of intermediate certificates is a must. However, Collector Ronald Rose and Superintendent of Police B. Sumathi intervened and convinced the Air Force officials to allow the candidates with ‘short memos’.
Initially, only 900 aspirants were allowed inside to take the test as the facilities and staff was not sufficient to conduct the examination, despite the assurance given by the Air Force officials that there is no limit on the recruitment.
However, 1000 aspirants were allowed inside to take the examination. They officials promised to increase facilities for the next recruitment drive to be held shortly where about 3,000 aspirants would be allowed.
