Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy on Thursday said the government would fill the 2,118 vacant posts, including doctors, ANMs, and lab technicians, in the Health Department through the TS Public Service Commission. “We have already written to the TSPSC in this regard,” he said.
Addressing the media at Utnoor during the second day of his visit to Adilabad district, the Minister said malaria was under control owing to various measures taken by the government. He said there were five deaths during the season in Adilabad district, but none due to malaria.
Superstitions
Talking about awareness on superstitions, Mr. Reddy said the use of ‘kala jatha’ cultural troupes has created better awareness among tribals in terms of seeking medical care in government facilities. He said the troupes had spread the message in local dialects which has shown its impact.
Later, at a review meeting with officials at Utnoor, the Minister asked the latter to purchase 2 lakh paracetamol tablets and launch the Rashtra Balala Swasthata Karykramam by August 15. He said this programme would benefit students as they will get medical care at the hostels itself.
Accompanied by Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, Mr. Laxma Reddy also visited Utnoor Community Hospital, Jainoor Primary Health Centre, Kohinoor (K) village, and Shettihadapnoor in Sirpur (U) mandal. He distributed 1,513 mosquito nets to Adivasis as a measure to control malaria.
