June 07, 2014 12:19 am | Updated 12:19 am IST - SANGAREDDY:

A farmer died in Medak district due to cardiac arrest late on Thursday night. According to reports reaching here, Dattatreya (55) of Kashimpur village in Zaheerabad mandal died due to cardiac arrest as he was purportedly worried whether the loan waiver would come or not amid speculation caused by the government announcement to put a cap on the loan waiver.

Congress leaders reached the village and consoled the family members of the farmer on Friday morning. They alleged that the farmer had died as he was worried over the cap on the loan waiver and that he would not be eligible for it. However, the ruling TRS leaders claimed that the farmer was eligible for the loan waiver and his death was due to ill-health.

Meanwhile, farmers held a dharna at Chinnashankarampet and handed over a memorandum to the MRO urging the government to reconsider the decision on loan waiver. Congress activists held a dharna at Kalher, Narayankhed and Zaheerabad. Representations were submitted to officials. The effigy of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was burnt in a village under Gajwel Assembly constituency limits. TRS and Congress activists held a dharna at Allipur village in Shivampet mandal demanding the government to waive all types of farm loans.
