The Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) is all set to create a milestone in the country by introducing “zero hour” to allow all the elected municipal corporators to raise their problems at the general body meeting here on Tuesday.

First municipality

Talking to The Hindu on Monday, Mayor S Ravinder Singh said that MCK would be the first municipality in the country to introduce the Zero Hour discussions.

The decision was taken only to provide an opportunity for all the 50 municipal corporators to raise the issues which were not included in the agenda.

Civic issues

The corporators can raise any issue pertaining to the local civic issues concerning the residents of their locality, he said. The municipal authorities would note down the problems raised by the corporators and take appropriate measures immediately, he maintained.

Similarly, the Municipal body had also invited the officials of various departments such as electricity, police, traffic, R&B, revenue and others for the meeting to redress the grievances of the people at the municipal general body meeting, he added.

Development works

With regard to the agenda for the general body meeting, the Mayor said that the meeting would discuss only developmental works of the town. We had included the issue of municipal parks, drains, roads and others issues to provide better facilities to the residents, he noted.
